About Jacob MacKellar

Jacob MacKellar is a 26 year old farmer and entrepreneur, born and raised in Alvinston Ontario. Jacob attended College for Agricultural Production and Business, but his edamame education was entirely self led, and self taught. Interested in providing Canadians with a new crop, Jacob’s first harvest was in 2010 and by 2011, MacKellar Farms’ edamame was in a handful of stores in Toronto.

Jacob is Canada’s modern-day farmer and an innovative, big picture thinker, specializing in edamame production. He was the first person to commercialize edamame production in Canada and develop the value chain through to retailers. MacKellar Farms’ edamame is now available in over 350 stores, across Canada and that figure is growing as more Canadians realize the importance of safe, local food, and championing Canadian business.
